About the Instructor

Julie Phillipps is a watercolor artist originally from Ohio. In her early years, she studied art at the Toledo Museum of Art. She received a BA in art and theater from Hope College in Holland, MI, and later earned an MA in theater education from Emerson. She has written and illustrated seven works of literature for young readers, the most recent are the Pacey Packer Unicorn Tracker graphic novels, published by Random House Graphic. Julie is also one of the co-founders of the WeHa Artists Emporium in West Hartford.

Discover the joy of watercolor with local artist Julie Phillipps. In this workshop, Julie will lead you step by step through a range of watercolor techniques as you paint cheerful bumblebees drifting among fragrant lavender blooms. Learn how to build soft washes, add delicate detail, and create lively movement while bringing these charming spring subjects to life. You’ll leave with a finished 8” × 10” watercolor painting, ready to be matted and framed.

This session is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to refine their skills. Join us for a creative and inspiring experience!
