Kristy Colbert is a mixed media artist based in Leverett, MA, drawing inspiration from rural life and travels. Specializing in painted paper collages, they blend realism with abstraction, embracing spontaneity over perfection. Using recycled junk mail, gouache, pencil, and Neocolor crayons, their work becomes a meditative act of hope and repair—piecing together fragments to reveal beauty in chaos. Through their playful, textured creations, they share the joy and resilience that art brings.

A great way to welcome the coming spring through the whimsical world of painted paper collage with Kristi Colbert. Everyone can do it! In this engaging workshop, you’ll playfully create your own papers using a variety of mediums and application techniques. From this paper, and with spring right around the corner, you’ll create an illustrative assemblage of potted plants and flowers and/or whatever your imagination can dream up. Learn to approximate color, texture, and composition to get a painterly, expressive, and illustrative aesthetic through collage. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with at least one small, framable piece of work and a feeling of warmer, greener days ahead! Participants may create as many pieces as they wish.
